I read on another site their were plans to turn it into a resort hotel. If true, that’s too bad. It’s a shame the local historical societies don’t act to restore this landmark and preserve it for the public to enjoy.
I agree.
They did get plans approved by the Town and State to turn it into a resort hotel and restaurant but the current owners either don’t have the funds to do it, or have decided not to spend them. Instead the owners have reduced the price to about $799,000 which is pretty cheap for a castle considering it comes with 20 acres of land overlooking beautiful (largest lake in New Hampshire) lake Winnipesaukee.
The demolition order is set for this April 2014 so I’m hoping they find a buyer in the next 5 months.
