Is the story of the fleet true or myth? I am looking for the historical documentation for that. It seems likely that they would sail to a friendly country like Portugal.
It was the legends that drew me in at first, too. Books like Ivanhoe and stories about the Holy Grail and Shroud of Turin. I still feel like there must be some truth to these legends, else how would they persist for so long.

I read on another site their were plans to turn it into a resort hotel. If true, that’s too bad. It’s a shame the local historical societies don’t act to restore this landmark and preserve it for the public to enjoy.
